“Bill Sienkiewicz is a fantastic artist, this much is true. So I was quite excited to find this reprint of his hard-to-find 90’s miniseries. Reading this made me realize how little of his work I’ve actually read, as opposed to just kind of knowing of it by reputation-osmosis. I did love his stuff on NEW MUTANTS, which warped my little mind just enough to prime me for later obsession with Vertigo comics.
But this book just crosses over my weirdness tolerance level. It’s a bizarre horror story involving a serial killer attempting to turn bodies into appliances, to varying degrees of success. Sometimes he has a toaster for a head. There’s a very disturbed young child involved, and a police detective on the case who was just released from a mental institution himself. And…that’s about all I get. Sienkiewicz has artwork in here that could be described as eerily beautiful.” - bonzobutch.

Ennis maneuvers through Christian/Catholic dogma with his version of the End Of Days. At times thoughtful, funny, poignant, heretical, conscious, or gory, Ennis does a masterful job of showing that there are human beings at the heart of our religions. Unfortunately, by our nature, humans are flawed creatures.

Did I mention the talking rabbit?

“Yousuke Kobayashi is charged with murder and sentenced to prison. But he claims his other personality did it, not him. Kobayashi, who was a detective, is now in prison for an undefined amount of years, but he is frequently visited by his psychiatrist Machi Izono, who also happens to run a private investigation agency. Izono makes a deal with Kobayashi: If he can help her with some of her most violent cases, he will be free under psychiatric observation.
Okay, this series is downright weird sometimes. It contains some of the most violent and disturbing murders that I have come across in any medium. So in other words there is blood, gore, and nudity. Oh yeah, the artwork is pretty damn good too =)” -[Xombiecorps(e)..]
