The Maxx (Image Comics)

From Wikipedia
“The Maxx is a comic book and animated series written and illustrated by Sam Kieth (with writing assistance from William Messner-Loebs earlier on in the series and from Alan Moore in a later issue), and published by Image Comics. The first issue was published in March, 1993.
The series follows the story of The Maxx, a homeless man who believes he is a superhero. The Maxx shifts between the real world and a dream world, which he refers to as The Outback, which is just as real to him as the real world. His only friend is Julie Winters, a “freelance social worker”. Little does she know that she and The Maxx have a deeper connection, and it involves the dream world into which The Maxx is constantly drawn.”
Ultimate Spider-Man (UPDATE: Rapidshare Mirrors by PainiaX) April 29, 2007
Posted by ExileLost in : Comics, ExileLost, Marvel, Spiderman ,Just because my main outlet of bringing comics to the masses went down that doesn’t mean I stopped uploading…
First off I’ll start with a series many people asked about on this site… Ultimate Spider-Man…
Ultimate Spider-Man

From Wikipedia
“Ultimate Spider-Man is a superhero comic book series published by Marvel Comics. The series is a modernized re-imagining of Marvel’s long-running Spider-Man comic book franchise. Ultimate Spider-Man is set outside the Marvel Universe continuity, in the Ultimate Marvel Universe, which it introduced.
The protagonist of Ultimate Spider-Man is Peter Parker, a teenager who lives in Queens, New York. He is bitten by a genetically altered spider and inherits its powers, including enhanced strength, agility and reflexes. When a burglar that Peter refuses to stop kills his uncle, he feels guilty and dedicates his life to fighting crime as the costumed vigilante Spider-Man. Peter tries to balance school, a job, a girlfriend, his family life with his widowed aunt, and his activities as Spider-Man. In contrast to the mainstream Spider-Man concept, Ultimate Spider-Man strongly focuses on genetic engineering as plot devices and largely bypasses such elements as radiation, magic, aliens and space opera.”

Ghostbusters: Legion, Ares (Limited Series), Battle Pope (Complete) and What if… v4 and v5. April 2, 2007
Posted by ExileLost in : Comics, ExileLost, Marvel ,This is a lot of great material and will hopefully keep you satisfied for the month of April as the updates I will contribute will be very slim. This is due to the fact that my college year is almost over thus I have many papers and exams to take care of. Now onto the comics…
Ghostbusters: Legion

From Wikipedia
“Ghostbusters: Legion is a four-part comic miniseries published by the Quebec based publisher, 88MPH Studios run by Canadian Sebastien Clavet. A proposed follow up series from the same comic publisher was announced but has since been cancelled.
Legion saw the return of the four Ghostbusters and the principal cast from the movie. Set six months on from the Gozer incident the series was designed to follow the Ghostbusters as their initial fame faded and they returned to the regular chore of busting ghosts on a daily basis. The series sees the team run ragged as a spate of supernatural crimes and other related occurrences plague the city.”

Ares (Limited Series)

From Wikipedia
“The 2006 mini-series begins with Ares living a relatively peaceful life with his son, Alexander. This life is interrupted when Hermes visits Ares with a request…help Olympus fight off a new threat from the east, Amatsu-Mikaboshi (the Japanese god of evil). Taking advantage of the chaos left by the fall of Asgard and the Norse pantheon, Mikaboshi planned to extend his influence by capturing Olympus and crushing the Olympian gods. With the Olympians defeated, Mikaboshi hoped to cow all the other pantheons into surrendering. To this end, Mikaboshi laid siege to Olympus, which was very close to succeeding.”

Battle Pope (Complete)
Actually it is missing the final color issue due to it not being released yet… but I will post it when it is released.

It is one of Robert Kirkman’s first works! Yes, the man who writes The Walking Dead, Invincible and Marvel Zombies! This also includes the Saint Michael Limited Series.
From Wikipedia
“Battle Pope is an independent comic book created by Robert Kirkman and Tony Moore, which was published by their own small press company under the moniker of Funk-O-Tron originally in 2000 and reprinted in color by Image Comics in 2005, with plans to possibly continue it with new stories after collecting the original material.
The book tells the tale of a hard drinking, womanizing Pope condemned by God for his own evil ways, who is called to action to save Saint Michael, with the help of Jesus H. Christ, becoming mankind’s final hope in a world overrun by demons following the Rapture.”

What if… Volumes 4 and 5

From Wkipedia
Volume 4
“Another series of six one-shots was released cover-dated February 2006. , but these more closely resembled their DC Comics equivalent, Elseworlds. While traditionally, What If…? posed a specific question and told a story based on a divergence from regular continuity via a different outcome of a specific event, Elseworlds are usually simply new continuities that tell stories are alternate versions of established characters based around the different time period or location the story is set in (for example, Superman: Red Son, in which Superman was raised in the Soviet Union instead of the United States). All but one of these new What If…? one-shots followed this approach, focusing on different time periods within the shared universe of Earth-717 which first diverged during the feudal Japan era with the emergence of a Daredevil hero known as The Devil Who Dares. The stories go through other historical eras and heroes, including Captain America battling “The White Skull” during the Civil War, Wolverine taking the role of The Punisher and fighting mobsters in 1920s Chicago (which was more than likely a continuation of the Wolverine Story Origins), Sub-Mariner being raised by his father on the surface during World War II, Thor becoming a herald of Galactus and a Russian version of Fantastic Four known as The Ultimate Federalist Freedom Fighters being a part of the Cold War. All of these stories are portrayed as historical documents from an alternate dimension discovered by a talented young hacker calling himself The Watcher.”
Volume 5
“It was recently announced at Wizard World Chicago that there will be a new What If…? series, published at the end of 2006. According to Marvel.com’s own online catalog and Wizard #180, this series will focus on alternate outcomes of major storylines, such as Age of Apocalypse, Avengers Disassembled, Spider-Man: The Other, Wolverine: Enemy of the State, and X-Men: Deadly Genesis.”

Limited Series Update! Spider-Man: Reign, Bullet Points, and Shaun of the Dead! March 17, 2007
Posted by ExileLost in : Comics, ExileLost, Marvel, Spiderman ,This time I have brough 3 great limited series to share with you all! Two of them are very new (Bullet Points and Reign) and Shaun of the Dead is one that many of you requested from my list.
All 3 Limited Series in One Link (MegaUpload)
Spider-Man: Reign (2006)

From Wikipedia:
“Spider-Man: Reign is a four issue comic book limited series featuring Spider-Man, written and illustrated by Kaare Andrews and published by Marvel Comics. Set 35 years into Spider-Man’s future, a retired Spider-Man returns to combat the injustices of a vastly different New York City.
On December 12, 2006 Marvel announced that issue #1 had sold out through Diamond Comic Distributors and that a second printing would be released.
The series has been compared to Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, a comparison which Marvel has also quoted when promoting Reign. As well as the thematic similarities between the two stories, both of which revisit aged heroes after the end of their careers, The Dark Knight Returns is also acknowledged within the pages of Reign by the inclusion of a character named Miller Janson (the name reflects Dark Knight Returns creators Frank Miller and Klaus Janson).
The book also has several themes relevant in the post 9/11 world, most notably Mayor Waters taking control of the city of New York to protect it, and the WEBB, an energy field that seals all of New York inside it so no one can leave. Also, security levels, such as orange and yellow, appear during the storyline.”
Great quick read, clearly done as an homage to Miller and Janson. Warning!!! This is the print that clearly shows Parker’s junk… see the Wikipedia article of this comic under the heading of “Controversy” to see what I mean.

Bullet Points (2006)

From Wikipedia
“Bullet Points is a Marvel comic limited series that was published in 2006 and 2007, written by J. Michael Straczynski, illustrated by Tommy Lee Edwards and lettered by John Workman. The series was released under the Marvel Knights imprint and examines the consequences to the Marvel Universe when Dr. Erskine is killed before Steve Rogers is injected with the Super-Soldier Serum and Ben Parker is killed before he raises Peter Parker.”
Another great limited series to come out during 2006! Think of an old Marvel “What if…” comic that explains how that little event shakes up the entire Marvel universe. Also, I love the classy art of Tommy Lee Edwards!

Shaun of the Dead (2005)

From Wikipedia
“IDW Publishing produced a comic book adaptation of the film written by, IDW’s editor-in-chief Chris Ryall and drawn by Zach Howard. It was published as a four-issue mini-series in 2005.”
What can I say… it’s a comic about the movie. Well drawn, great dialogue, and always entertaining…
