“This post-apocalyptic manga is written from both a narrative and first-person point of view. As with a number of other Miyazaki works, the manga deals with man’s struggle with nature and with each other. In the manga, Earth is mostly a toxic wasteland after most life was killed as a result of warfare during the Seven Days of Fire. Much of the planet is now filled with giant forests of fungus and mould. The forests are toxic to normal life due to the toxic miasma given off by the fungus. Because habitable and farmable land is at a premium, the remaining humans fight over territory.
NAUSICAA IS ARGUABLY THE BEST MANGA EVER MADE TO DATE. The artwork is ALL highly detailed with genuine hand-drawn backgrounds and shading; there isn’t any of that “zip-a-tone” look to any background. Because even small panels have large amounts of detail, this manga is stunning to look at. The quality of artwork is deserving of an epic plot and Miyazaki certainly serves one up.
Historically, the manga is of some significance. The success of the first part of the manga paved the way to getting a Nausicaa movie made in 1984. With the funds and success of Nausicaa, Isao Takahata and Miyazaki formed Studio Ghibli a year later…. ”

I *just* noticed that I had my dirs spelled with two ‘c’s instead of 2 ‘a’s…
The first two volumes of this upload will reflect that error in the .zip filenames..The “page” titling is correct though.
