post Some Civil War Issues for this week…

September 28th, 2006

Filed under: Comics, Jake Chambers, Marvel — Jake Chambers @ 9:15 pm

So, although I haven’t followed CW a lot lately - just a few issues - here are some new issues. I think Amazing Spider-Man definitely wins the race with Peter finally going against the Iron Dork… NO, this is not a Spoiler, since you can actually see it on the cover…

Now I have some problems with the rest of the pictures for the covers… but it doesn’t really matter, does it? Here is the rest:

The Justice League is made up of the world’s greatest heroes. Over the years, through feature movies, television programs, and various publications, these heroes have transcended the comic book genre to become pop cultural icons. JLA: SECRET ORIGINS is an amazing look back at how these characters originally gained their powers and abilities and became the legendary heroes that they now are. Featuring striking paintings by award-winning artist Alex Ross, this masterpiece contains the origins of some of DC’s greatest heroes including Batman, Superman, Aquaman, Wonder Woman, Captain Marvel, Green Lantern and the Flash.

Silver Surfer/Warlock: Resurrection #1-#4 (c)
Writer/Artist: Jim Starlin

The Surfer learns that Zenn-La has been stolen away by a being known as the Great One. It has become a world reduced to a thought pattern and added to a planetary collection. With the help of Moondragon, Norrin is able to penetrate into it and finds happiness with his beloved temporarily. However, a personification of the Great One soon appears and becomes annoyed at the realization that he has an uninvited guest. The two fight and the Silver Surfer inadvertently kills the Great One. With Moondragon’s help, they are able to save the worlds by using Shalla Bal as an anchor to the psychic machinations. Unfortunately, the process takes longer than they anticipated and Shalla Bal is lost to them. After the Silver Surfer broods a bit, Warlock coerces the Surfer to make a deal with him. He will attempt to retrieve Shalla Bal from the “death” realm if he will become their “friend” and offer aid when they need it. Norrin is incredulous about this being possible, but Warlock tells him that Shalla Bal’s death was different, almost metaphysical, otherwise this would not be possible. They travel to a distant planet, where using the Surfer’s power injected into the soul gem, modified and redirected to the mind gem, they begin opening a portal. Things get a little out of control as Moondragon loses control of the opening and demons come through into this dimension.

post Amazing Spider-Man 535 CW “low quality”

September 26th, 2006

Filed under: Comics, Jake Chambers, Marvel — Jake Chambers @ 2:49 pm

Errr… I know, I know, the book is due tomorrow, not today, but some guy simply took PICTURES of the pages, with a photograph and posted it on torrent… so I thought why not make the people eagerly waiting for it a sneak preview of it today?

The whole story is there - except the cover. And as far as I can see from the reactions of those who read it… it is HOT! Me personally, I will wait till tomorrow for the better scan :D

Enjoy :D

post O.M.A.C. - John Byrne

O.M.A.C. (1-4)
John Byrne

Not only is this an O.M.A.C. story, it’s a John Byrne O.M.A.C. story.
Not only is this a John Byrne O.M.A.C. story, it’s a John Byrne O.M.A.C. time travel story.
Not only is this a John Byrne O.M.A.C. time travel story, it’s a John Byrne O.M.A.C. recursive time travel story.
Have I sold you on it yet?

OMAC - 1 - Past Imperfect
OMAC - 2 - Brother, Can You Spare An Eye?
OMAC - 3 - Mein Kampf
OMAC - 4 - The Man Who Made Tomorrow

BTW: are ya’ll cool with these 60-70mb file sizes? I liked the quality for my own archives at that level, but I thought about it about midway through (I scanned #1, then U/L’d while scanning #2, etc), and I *could’ve* downsampled after the scan (I couldn’t do the scanning in B&W or Grayscale - it looked CRAPPY), and U/L’d a lower quality, smaller filesize version…
But being halfway through already, I kept em all at the 150dpi setting (Actually, I guess I could’ve reduced the DPI, but then I’d have lower quality too, so no thanks.)
Anyway, I’ll see if there’s some more hidden gems to share, but let me know about the filesize IIF you have a complaint about it…Otherwise, *my* scans (and U/Ls) will remain at this DPI/Size….
